Wow, today I heard the Diet Rite Cola jingle for the first time since about 1973. It nearly brought a tear to my eye. You’re right: a good jingle can compete with Beyonce any day. It seems to be a lost art.

btw, just read bob levinson’s nyt obit.
as i got to know him, he wrote as he spoke. acclaimed for his creativity, but so appreciated for dependably meeting copy deadlines. (not so typical of other ddb writers).
one of my fave “rl” ads, for elal, “gad is my co-pilot” about gad hershkowitz who flies with an angel on his shoulder. comforting.
so it was with bob’s copy, comforting.
as was the relevance of his humor in the elal ad, “we’ll never forget our first flight to israel”, cartoon showing the exodus from egypt, sid meyers, ad.
from my pov, he was a joy to work with and a privilege to know.
as my grandma would say, “so he should only rest in peace, gezucht”
